I'm not sure the Bootcamp drivers are updated and Microsoft's new OS's always have growing pains.įWIW, I've been using a PC copy of Quickbooks on a 2010 MacBook Pro with Bootcamp for several years and have not had any problems. I strongly recommend Windows 7 or 8.1 and not Windows 10. Bootcamp is free as long as you buy a copy of Windows. It might come with Parallels (at an extra cost on top of the Parallels software.). If you have a more limited system (a little older, or a laptop) you will probably have a better result with Bootcamp.Įither way, you need a legal copy of Windows.
If you have a large monitor (or two), lots of RAM and a fast processor, you may prefer Parallels. You can switch back and forth between other Mac programs, but it is more resource-intensive since you have to run both systems at the same time. With Parallels, you open a window for Windows on your Mac. This means that you can't access your Mac software at the same time, but it is easier on system resources since you are not trying to run Mac and Windows at the same time.
